British Vaccine Community Plaques, The Altars Upon Which Logic Was Sacrificed
Swindon Borough Council installs new commemorative display for its mass vaccination campaign in southwest England throughout 2020 to 2022...
Last week, Swindon Borough Council announced that its vaccination centre at the STEAM museum is finally shutting its doors.
Swindon Advertiser reported it was an emotional moment. Since first opening in December 2020, the local citizenry amassed in their hundreds as both employed staff and volunteers to help usher forth their mass vaccination programme.
Jo Knight, who started as a volunteer but became vaccination centre manager by the time of closure, stated:
"It's weird for it to be ending, nobody thought it would be going this long, but now that it is finally stopping it's a poignant moment.
"I've been here for 18 months in total and have seen a lot of people walk through the doors. I've seen children and young people well into their hundreds, all coming together. It's been amazing.
"The people made it so special. Everyone coming together for a common goal, lots of lasting friendships have been formed. It’s something for us all to be proud of, massive achievement.”
Although Jo and co have now left, their efforts have been immortalised thanks to Swindon Borough Council. On the wall in STEAM’s Great Hall now rests a plaque that reads:
“Between 16th December 2020 and 26th February 2022, Brunel Health Group and Wyvern Health Partnership provided 393,176 Covid-19 vaccinations within the Great Western Hall at STEAM - Museum of the Great Western Railway.
This life-saving vaccination programme was supported by over 2,000 clinicians, volunteers, medical support staff, and Swindon Borough Council employees who were integral to the biggest vaccination programme in NHS history.
The STEAM Museum Vaccination Centre was the largest deliverer of vaccines in the region and operated 268 daily sessions within this hall.
Swindon Borough Council would like to say thank you to both medical groups and everyone who helped deliver the vaccination programme at the STEAM Museum to the residents of Swindon and surrounding areas”
Accompanying this transcript are three empty vaccine vials; one from Pfizer, one from Moderna, and one from AstraZeneca.
What appears to be a harmless commemoration actually encapsulates one of the most sinister obsessions to emerge from these mass vaccination programmes - a numerical obsession. One that encouraged perceiving the populace in bulk. It was always about how many can we get through. What impressive numbers can we tally on the register today? The marker of success was purely quantitative.
“Between 16th December 2020 and 26th February 2022, Brunel Health Group and Wyvern Health Partnership provided 393,176 Covid-19 vaccinations within the Great Western Hall at STEAM”…
It is as if one was a farmer counting his herd shuffling through a gate.
Never was it about the individual, never was it about whether these novel products were suited for particular people. Never about weighing an individual’s risk of experiencing an adverse reaction post-inoculation compared to their risk of hospitalisation from covid. The only thing Swindon Borough Council’s display commemorates is a rushed, deeply unethical macro-approach to medicine.

Apologies for the long delay in posting, I’ve been a little preoccupied with other ventures since Christmas. Normal schedule to resume.
