Starmer’s lawyer pals and judges will be arguing that BritCards violate the human rights of illegal immigrants. And in the current legal framework they will succeed. BritCards will only be imposed on actual Brits.
The other side of the story is that Romania actually is a place where you can get very high quality engineering work done for cheap. Romanians are smart and diligent. More so than many other popular outsource countries we could mention. That’s not to dismiss your point about it being a hacking capital, but just to give more balance to why they would outsource to Romania. For a commercial project, I would happily use Romania. For a sensitive national government project… maybe not.
Britain needs to come to terms with National Strikes and how to perform them. No government can afford regular and planned strikes by millions of people. All it will take is one single day a month. On this issue, we can all afford to strike.
It seems to me unlikely that Starmer will be able to introduce digital ID. It's too unpopular.
The thing we have to watch for is a Farage-led government bringing in anything remotely similar. It would help build trust if Reform and Farage committed to legislating never to bring in any form of digital ID.
It would also help if Farage repented over pushing for Blair to be the "UK's vaccination tsar" early in 2021.
Fair comment. I should have written something more like: “It would help build trust if Reform and Farage promised in their campaigning and in their manifesto never to bring in any form of digital ID.”
It would also help if they stated openly that they will not work with the likes of Palantir.
I wonder if Nigel was joking. After all, anybody with half a brain knows that whatever Tony 'Satan' Bliar advocates is likely very bad news. Yet many still took the jabs. I find it amazing how stupid people are.
I actually have a high impression of GDS, as government departments go, they tend to know what they are doing and are efficient. But my confidence has taken a dent from this report.
By the way we don’t have to imagine what a large scale compromise would look like - we have the examples of the UK NHS and then the Irish equivalent. All due to laxity of security measures.
Nothing to add. I've worked in IT all my life and started out as a kid hacking prestel and x25 networks when it wasn't illegal to do so. Decades later I'm regularly horrified by civil servant managed projects. I always look at my boss with a please don't send me look. She sends me anyway. The big consultancies and service companies directors as as well as service chiefs need to be personally liable then they might start taking things seriously.
The thing is Morgan McSweeney hates the British population. Take a good look at him. Squirmy little man, who has no shame or loyalty who was bullied endlessly at school.
Every anti-British thing he does is a point scored and a chance at “pay back” to his childhood bullies.

I'm not aware of any substantial Government IT system that hasn't been a complete sh1t show in the 40 years I worked in IT.
Quite honestly they couldn't organise one of those events in Burton on Trent.

very fair points... appreciate the info 👍
It’s a pity the Romanians don’t use their skill to fix the roads and houses in Romania. Bucharest is a dump.
😁
I already thought Digital ID was a terrible idea JJ. Thanks for giving me even more reason to dread this latest authoritarian overreach. 🤣
Keir Rodney Starmer has never done anything remotely original in his life...so the ringleaders are out there to be rounded up as well...
As I like to say Keir Rodney 'You plonker' Starmer
Spoken like a Brit...
I did a whole post on him.

One huge cluster fk by Starmer.

Reform can't do that. A Government cannot pass legislation to tie the hands of a future administration.

Mass nationwide refusal
The economy will tank if they are going to sack the workforce
A mass rebellion is needed.

He needs therapy
He rather reminds me of a runty Prince Harry.
I suspect that most governments have digital id running on their myGov sites. I certainly don’t believe there is anything good about it.
Many thanks. I have written myself again on this and included a link to this post of yours.

He was told by Davos to get it implemented !!
